A Blast From the Past

"Sister, cousin, fairly sure they are the same thing where you come from." Abi said with a smirk. Clearly she was getting under the woman's skin, and while she didn't originally intend to aggravate her, now she was clearly just enjoying herself. It seemed however that things were trying coming to a head. Felina had called her out.

Abi now had to make a choice to make. She could just back down and start patching things up between them, perhaps she could still use this gym if she was sorry enough. On the other hand she had been challenged backing down was a sign of weakness. For a moment she had a bit of think, but eventually she made up her mind and walked over to the ropes and grabbed them, climbing up and sliding between them.

"Alright then, I am game. But be warned, No one will save you when i am done smacking your ass around here like a my bitch" Abigail stated, sliding on a pair of gloves he had found on the side of the ring, and then getting into Felina's face.

Felina lit up at Abigail’s taunt, flaring up fast. It had been a while since she’d taken a crack like that, she’d almost forgotten how much it could piss her off. Which was the exact thing this woman wanted, clearly. There was no way around it now, though, so Felina would just have to make sure she regretted the decision. ”Racism, cute.” She snorted as Abigail got in her face, then moved away and over to the side, grabbed some tape, hurriedly wrapping up her fists. ”Just get in the ring.”

This was a bad idea, and Felina realized that, not too far in the back of her head. Even ignoring Abigail’s skill, unsanctioned fights in the middle of their gym were the sort of thing Carmen would frown hard on, and she’d get no end of crap over it when her cousin came back. Frankly, though? She wasn’t too worried. Whatever guff she got, it would be more than worth it if she had the chance to knock this woman down a peg.

She threw on some shinguards as well and rolled into the ring, promptly making her way to the middle of the ring. More than mentally ready to go, she threw a few practice punches and kicks to get her body up to speed, limbering up, getting loose.

For Abi, winning this fight was a point of pride for her. It wasn't exactly going to be a contest, but at the same time she didn't want give this girl the chance to get any kind of advantage. Even if there was no one watching she wasn't exactly going to be happy with herself if she let herself get beaten up by some small arse Rodriguez. Now that she was in the ring, she decided to put some shin pads on too, originally deciding against it, but since Felina had done so, Abigail was going to follow suit.

Now fully suited for the fight, Abi took a moment to throw a few shadow punches at the air, trying to get that adrenaline going through the body. She was going to need it if she was going to be at the top of her game. After that she simply sauntered casually into the centre of the ring, gloves raised in a loose but most certainly casual boxing stance.

"So how are we going to do this then? You just going to stand there while i give you free facial reconstructive surgery? Nah... Either way let's just hurry it up. I don't want to spend all day beating you up." With that she tightened her stance somewhat and then used her gloved fists to beckon Felina.

This was probably a bad idea and Felina would be lying if she said that some small part of her didn't realize that. Abigail was a different level, a different class of boxer, and she was going into this dry - she had no idea what this woman could really do now, having not seen her in years, no idea what tricks she could pull off. They weren’t too far off physically, but that just meant their experience would be on full display, and there was no way she could compare with an Olympic boxer. It was a ludicrous idea.

But, well, she didn’t get where she was by being cautious. And she wasn’t the only one who had some tricks. So, maybe…

It was a dice roll she was willing to take, as she prepared to square off.

”Okay, bitch, we’ll make it fast.” She smacked gloves together, getting in the mood. ”No time limit, no rules. First to three knockdowns takes it. Sound about right?”

Abi couldn't help but smirk slightly as she watched the female in front of her getting pumped up. She was trying to give herself confidence and was trying to tell herself that she was going to win. But Abi had been in this game long enough to see when people have doubts about themselves. Abi had that voice in the back of her head too. That voice was telling her that this woman was a Rodriguez. While Abi had beaten one, was it possible she could beat two?

After listening to the rules, Abi laughed. "Fine by me. I won't need the three knockdowns... One knockdown and you won't want to get back up. With that Abi punched her gloves together and pushed off the ropes, walking casually to the centre of the ring. Once there she raised her gloves, separated her legs and lowered her body. "Come on then. Show me what you got!"

In for a penny, in for a pounding. That was the way it went, right?

Felina approached the woman with some caution, but that was only natural. Truth told, part of the reason she was so down for this was because she’d gone too long with a match, kept on the shelf for a while after taking a pretty bad loss to a one Edgar Shaw. But she was eager to dip her toes back into things, and this seemed like a good way to do it. See how much rust she’d accrued.

So Abi wanted her, she’d get her. Moving forward, Felina waited until she was in range, then threw out a couple of quick jabs, testing her foe to see just how quick she was, get a good feel for the range and how best to approach her.

Abi wasn't the fastest boxer in the world. She was a fairly heavy for a gal and so normally her approach was to tank as best she could while trying to keep control of the match. The incoming jabs were something that she could easily deal with though, a few weaves backwards and a step back and she was out of range.

But the jabs did show that Felina knew what she was doing. Those weren't the jabs of rookie. If she had got caught by them they were going to do more than sting. Abi decided to play hard to get taking a further step back and starting a wide circle around Felina, guard raised the entire time. It was risky as if Felina timed her charge correctly she could be forced into the ropes, but Abi was keen to test the woman's speed and reaction. Could she get close to her without giving away what she wanted to do.

Hm. Hmhmhmhm.

Felina narrowed her eyes as she threw out her initial volley and didn’t quite get the response she was expecting. Abi was a champ, after all, one of the best in the world, and she would’ve thought that would lead to some confidence in her approach. Heck, she was counting on it, figuring she could bait the woman in and take advantage of a mistake, hoping she would be underestimated.

But that wasn’t quite what was going down, here. Instead, she was hanging back, being more defensive as Felina threw out her jabs, putting that footwork to good use. Testing. That was a little troubling.

Felina did her best to push that out of her mind, though - if Abi was going to give her openings, she’d take them.

She took a step back, then lunged forward, leading with her right arm, looking for all the world like she was about to lay into Abigail’s guard with a hard straight - but she didn’t. Instead, she pulled it back into a feint, dropped low, and threw out a quick hook, hoping to catch her foe in the side before she could adjust her defenses.
