I Just Died In Yours Arms

"Oh." Clyde said immediately.

Then it sunk in. Just like his stomach. "...Ohhh..."

"W-What? Like last time? Or... Y-Ya know is it like when someone says 'lets take a break', that's usually just a nice way of sayin' 'lets break up' Heh." He didn't know why this was taking him off guard. He told himself this was going to happen eventually anyway. He didn't realize he had forgotten about it.

"Yeah." Mercy said simply.

"We'll see how it goes Clyde." Mercy raised her eyebrows in a hopeful manner despite knowing the opposite was most likely true. "You should focus on your career and figuring out what you want to do after you're done wrestling. Maybe I can... still help you with your studying, ok?" She said, trying to soften the blow as much as she could.

"We'll talk soon, Clyde." She said into the phone softly. "I ... have to go now, Rally's calling for me..." She said and looked at the door to her Boss' office. Rally was out to lunch.

"Goodbye, Clyde." Mercy said and quickly hung up.

Instead of the great relief she had expected from it, she collapsed against her desk and buried her head in her pink curls. It was everything she had wanted and it had gone much more smoothly than she expected. So, why did she suddenly feel really shitty and sad?

We'll see how it goes. Probably the most cryptic thing he's heard. Maybe we'll get together. Maybe the best woman he's known will be his again...

He lost again.

Come over and help him study? He'd never be able to focus with her in the same room as him. Not anymore. She had to go now. Talk soon she said. He doubted the call would ever come. Clyde was just left speechless on the other end. Somewhere between, sad, angry and numb.

And then she said, what felt like, the final goodbye. A chilling, hollow click was all that followed as Clyde sat at his table,staring at the phone, silent, looking down at his cereal bowl as thought of his lover and the fact it was over.

He said nothing for a long while. Just sat their, glaring at his bowl as his eyes narrowed before he just screamed and swiped his bowl, slamming his hand into it to fling it against the wall, staining it with the broken bowl and spilled milk...

He went back into his room to get dressed and made his way to the door outside, never bothering to turn off the music as he reached for the knob left the apartment, keeping his head low, his hair a curtain. Never letting anyone see his eyes.
