AFW Title Match Deadlines Empty AFW Title Match Deadlines

Post by Yori Sat Dec 30, 2023 8:30 pm

The issue of stagnating title belts has long since been an ongoing dilemma brought to our attention on numerous occasions throughout the years. Stemming from title match threads going untouched for weeks on end and a lack of communication from title belt holders to us moderators. We are in no way issuing direct blame to anyone currently on the site, and in fact consider ourselves just as culpable for not formally addressing this problem sooner.

Therefore, after frequent deliberations over the years, community polling in the past, and fervent debating as to what is the most feasible and fair-minded solution for everyone involved, starting on Avalanche 2023, ALL title match threads will have around a 90-day time limit to be completed. For example, since Avalanche’s official start was for January 1st, the deadline will be April 1st. Two weeks before the deadline is reached, one of the mods will issue you a friendly reminder and inform you that the thread is officially marked for closure in the next few weeks. Once the deadline is reached, moderators will close the thread and officially announce who the winner of the match was.

Whoever is holding the title belt will then be encouraged to start working on their next rivalry/program for the next PPV. Doing so will place a sense of urgency and importance on the storylines behind the title belts and encourage active participation within them in what we feel is a reasonable time frame to at least complete a cohesive match thread. Of course, while we wouldn't mind the thread being finishing ON that date specifically, finishing it earlier will be absolutely appreciated by us.

FAQ's

Q) Do these deadlines involve ALL match threads at Avalanche, Summer Splash and other PPV's?
A) No. Only matches involving title belts will have deadlines.

Q) What about extenuating RL circumstances that prevent me from posting?
A) We will always be willing to hear people out in these situations and assist in any we can. We might offer leeway in the deadline and allow a few extra weeks depending on the specific circumstances, but more likely than not we would rather matches be ended earlier than what was originally intended.

Q) What if my RP partner disappears entirely and is absolutely unreachable?
A) We would obviously not blame everyone involved in the thread for one person's truancy. First and foremost, all situations will be addressed on a case-by-case basis. We will be willing to hear you out, but the following steps will be taken in regard to the title belt if someone goes completely silent and is unable to be contacted.

1) Challenger For The Belt Is MIA = Title Holder wins and retains.
2) Title Holder Is MIA = Challenger wins the belt.
3) Both People Are MIA = Belt is vacated.

Q) Will this deadline be enforced on ALL title matches, even ones not on PPV's?
A) Yes. The same 90-day time limit will always be enforced. We might have the end date be posted in the opening thread so there is no confusion about when the cutoff day is for anyone involved in the thread.

Q) What about title matches currently in place or ones that take place before Ava 2023?
A) Those will have no deadline and will be RP'ed as they always have been.

Q) Do these deadlines pertain to Tension title belts as well?
A) Yes. ALL title belts underneath the AFW banner will have deadlines enforced.

Q) I am having trouble finding possible contenders for my title, what should I do?
A) Members may register potential belt contenders within the character directory subforum found here. Members are also encouraged to make use of the Notice Board on the forums and within the discord.

Q) What are the expectations for me as an AFW title holder?
A) You are expected to be an active member of the forum and make use of the belt either through storylines or simple title defenses. Finding future contenders for the title as well as making sure matches reach a conclusion is expected of you.

Any questions in regards to this change can be directed towards me in our mod questions subchannel in the AFW discord. Being a new idea and all, we'll likely iron out some wrinkles at the beginning until we get the rule set down. This may seem like a bold action, but we do not believe it's an unfair one. We believe this is the best we can do in regards to allowing players plenty of time to craft their storyline while being fair to other people who are waiting for their chance and looking to become more involved in the title scene as well. It's stringent yet flexible. And above all else, fair for all party's involved while contributing to the betterment of the site as a whole. Thank you for your time.
