Dark Match: Merith vs. Jean Grey

Merith was still new to the Friction locker room and the schedulers weren't sure just yet if Merith was ready for the camera and the bright lights. So tonight she was to face a mystery opponent in a single fall match that wouldn't be recorded. The large Amazon traversed the halls until she approached the entrance curtain. There she took a few deep breaths, mentally preparing herself for a performance to impress the higher ups. Whoever she was to be facing was in for it...

Jean was already out in the ring, jogging in place a bit with some nervous energy. She had just been granted a chance to put her foot in the door. She was sure most watching this show at home would have never heard of her and they still won't for another few months. This was a dark match and she had no idea who she was going to be thrown against tonight. Al she could hope was that she put on a good enough performance for the fans present at ring side to like her and perhaps hype her up enough to allow her some real camera time.

Merith walked out as she was signaled by her music, taking in the initial crowd response. Since she was still an unknown, cheers were either out of general support to do well or those in awe of Merith's incredible stature. She humbly accepted the responses granted to her and approached the ring, shifting her focus to Jean Grey, a fairly well-built lady that Merith could tell was quite pretty. It was a shame Merith might have to jeopardize that. She rolled into the ring and got right up in the girl's face, dwarfing her. Merith didn't say anything as she looked into Jean's eyes searching for the fear in them if there was any...

Jean did frown a bit grimly as she saw Merith come down to the ring. She could tell by her large size and intimidating appearance that this might be a very tough match. However, she realized she was probably being tested her too and ehr best hope was to put on as good a performance as possible. She did back up reflexively when Merith first advanced on her, but would stop after about two steps and then try to return her gaze defiantly.

There was fear in her eyes, but it was tempered with resolve. When the bell rang, she intended to give as good as she got.

As soon as the bell rang, Merith tried to gain the quick upper hand by shooting her arms out to grapple the smaller foe. Merith wasn't the fastest person, but she did try to act quick enough to surprise Jean while she focused on standing her ground to the massive Amazon. If Merith could get the grapple, she would try to quickly snap Jean's head into a tight headlock and maneuver her to the center of the ring...

Jean saw Merith's eyes shift slightly as she moved to lock up with her. For now, Jean would choose wisely not to match strength for strength against this big adversary. She would dodge aside as Merith grabbed for her and feint off to the side. She didn't counter yet and would hop back and forth on both feet, her arms spread like a wrestler waiting for Merith's next move and looking like she was about to engage in a game of cat and mouse with her.

Merith frowned as she missed Jean and quickly spun to face her. She really... REALLY... hated it when she couldn't get her hands on an opponent. Merith circled Jean quietly, focused on her and again the Amazon would attack coming in to deck Jean across the face with a punch to stun her and set her up for another move...

Jean would duck the punch and again feint to the side almost like a boxer. She would then try to go for two quick jabs at the side of Merith's face.

Merith hit nothing but air and as she started to turn to face Jean, she was struck in the face with a jab and then another which backed Merith up only a step. Merith growled as the attacks both hurt a little and embarrassed her. Merith tried to respond to Jean's attacks by shooting for her legs to take Jean down to the mat and straddle her...

Jean raised her hands intending to follow up with an ax handle attack to the side of Merith's neck...

Then she felt both her thighs grabbed and she was hoisted off the mat by Merith's awesome strength. She let out a yelp of surprise and was then slammed forcefully on her back on the mat with a grunt Meirth on top.
