Ground Rules

Amy turned the knob, then used her backpack to push the door open, blowing an exaggerated, mocking little kiss Army's way as she backed out of the room.

She made her way to the locker room, fighting down a smile all the way. Amy tried to focus on the match to come, on defending Blaise, on fighting the Valkyries. But in two or three moments, she gave up trying. Instead, she just allowed her contentment wash over her. The night had gotten to an inauspicious start, and Amy had steeled herself for a shitty week. But, somehow, she came out of what she thought was going to be an awful, heartbreaking talk feeling like their relationship had just been tempered. She hummed off-key as she traveled down the hall, blissfully ignoring the annoyed looks from passers-by- a wrestler with no luck in love, a PA with no time for it, and a trio of janitors who just looked like they hated everything. Tonight was a good night, and nothing was going to bring her down.

Amy continued toward the locker room with a lively spring in her step.
