Strategy: Sakura comes into most matches with an adaptable mindset, getting a good feel for her opponents abilities and looking for opportunistic monuments to launch her own offensive. This sometimes find her on the wrong end of a match, especially in the outset, but she has an uncanny ability to build momentum back up and come back from behind when pushed to her limits. She employs a wide range of moves, but tends to stick to heavy hitting fundamentals. While much of her more unique arsenal can be flashy with use of acrobatics, she isn't one to really showboat. She takes wrestling very seriously, not only to uphold the sport of competition, but continue to prove she is cut out to face the biggest and best in the business.

Sakura Special: Sakura dips low, seizing on an opportunistic dodge or exploiting her foe's weakened state as they stand before her. With a graceful hands free back somersault, she lands consecutive kicks, catching her opponents under the chin with a devastatingly powerful knock out blow that has proven to catch even some of the best off guard and leave them down for the count.

Personality: Loyal. She would do anything for her friends, to a fault. She puts others before herself in almost every situation, which while an admirable trait, finds her landed in situations far bigger than her often enough. She wants to be the best she can be, not for herself, but her friends and fans who look to her for inspiration and guidance. She takes on most burdens herself silently, putting on a practiced happy face to make sure everyone else around her doesn’t need to worry about her.

History:

Life as a pop idol always seemed like glitz and glamour, but anyone in the business could tell you there is a lot of hard work that goes into performing on a national scale. Sweet Diva was a sensation, and Sakura Hagiwara found herself at the helm of it all as the freshly named lead vocalist for her group. They were on a fast track to world wide success, the hottest thing on the block. Then her career path suddenly took a strange turn.

When Sweet Diva’s manager mentioned they had a talent unable to show up to a cross promotional event with Japanese wrestling federation Berserk and joked about sending one of the girls as punishment, Sakura took her up on the offer. Always wanting to lend a hand and not wanting to see anything happen to her friends, it had been a no brainer for her. It was then Elena, a friend and fellow vocalist for Sweet Diva stepped up as well. Unwilling to be upstaged, she took the job as well to show everyone that is Sakura could do something, she could to.

The promotion went disastrous. An altercation between Elena and Berserk talent Rio Kazama, spiraled out of control and saw the idol brutalized and injured in the ring. Sakura, unwilling to stand for such violence, was quick to challenge Rio for a match to defend Elena’s honor as a performer. Her declaration was bold, but foolhardy as she unknowingly issued a hair vs hair challenge, unaware of what was on the line.

Sakura would go on to face Rio in the ring, displaying an impressive aptitude for wrestling… until the other girl actual started to try. What followed as a devastating match that found the idol star tossed about like a ragdoll, paraded around in humiliating holds, and ultimately defeated. When Rio came for her hair, her friends were quick to jump to her aid to stop it. When she was labeled a weak coward for not upholding the challenge, she offered to take her punishment, knowing full well her long beautiful hair was an important part of her image as an idol.

Even after taking her punishment, Rio continued to belittle Idols as a whole and her friends. Telling her to go back to her old easy lifestyle as a flash in the pan who would amount to nothing. She could stand for words against herself, but would not stand any longer to have her fellow idols talked down to, so she did the unthinkable. She made a declaration that she wouldn’t return to her life as a diva until she became a professional wrestler and faced Rio again as her equal.

Nose to the grindstone, she worked relentlessly hard to toughen up. Using her natural talents and a fiery determination, she impressed with showing great potential. There were more hurdles ahead, however. While she had heart and ability, her endurance and technique were lacking. She found herself time and time again on the mat, locked in a boston crab. No matter how hard she tried, the matches all went the same. She would reach the ropes, be pulled away, then be made to surrender in the middle of the ring. With a record breaking loss streak, her popularity reached an all time low and she was forced to admit she wasn't good enough. She drafted her resignation and prepared to leave Berserk… until she met one woman.

Seeing Sakura on the brink of giving up on wrestling Misaki Toyoda intervened in what was presented as a simple spar. Even knowing she was about to leave, Sakura was hard pressed to not give the star wrestler of Berserk what she wanted and agreed to train with her. That sparring session changed everything and cemented Misaki as a tough love mentor that would go on to push Sakura to her limits and show her what the true spirit of wrestling was.

She would eventually go on to defeat Rio in the ring. Show down with her mentor’s own mentor, Jackal Tojo, and even square off with her best friend Elena who secretly had donned the mask of Blue Panther, a wrestling gun for hire who had her sights set on taking Sakura down to prove she was the best. When all was said and done, she had finally earned her place in not only the Berserk gym, but professional wrestling as a whole. Today, she finds herself as a part time member of Sweet Diva, supporting her friends while feeding her love of wrestling in a new home in AFW. She has her sights set on new challenges on her quest to be the strongest wrestler in the world!

Fun Facts:

Multi-talented: She can sing, she can dance, and shows an impressive aptitude for learning under the right tutelage. Nothing goes to waste between her life as an idol and a wrestler. Time in the ring has amped her stamina to perform for long stretches without issue, and dancing as an idol has inspired much of her acrobatic arsenal.

Berserker: While she isn't official on Berserk's roster as a full time talent while signed with AFW, she made sure to have a open door policy in place in her contract to cross promote with them as thanks for giving her the start to her professional wrestling career.

Trial by Fire: Sakura is at her best when pushed to her boundaries. If she can't get the job done the first go around, you can bet she will train up and bounce back tougher than she started.
