The Purple Wedding

The fan wasn’t helping. Try as Minerva might to keep herself cool, the heat was overwhelming. No one else in this place seemed to be struggling with it, just her. She also noticed she had missed a fair amount of what Chae-Min had just said. It was getting harder to focus on anything. But she did manage to catch the woman’s answer to her last question. It raised more questions than it answered, but Minerva couldn’t escape the feeling there was a clue of some kind there. And worse, though she couldn’t have explained why, the answer made her only feel more certain about her tea.

Drugged, she was sure of it.

“What do you mean by that?” Minerva asked Chae-Min, hoping a bit of clarity might help her solve some part of this riddle. Meanwhile she tried to stay calm so she could figure out what to do about her situation. At the rate that her mind was slipping, she didn’t have much time. Minerva could try to run, but how far would she get before the drug left her unconscious? Maybe just out the front door, or around the corner into an alley by the building? No, running wasn’t an option. She could try to attack Chae-Min, but Minerva could already feel that she wasn’t in any kind of shape to fight right now.

Still glaring, she asked, “Why are you doing this? What do you really want from me?”
