Personality

Out of the Ring:
Given his troubled past, Senji, right now, desires to keep a leash on his desires towards ravenous violence. Practically, that is one of the few things he's good at. Outside of the ring, he wants to be calm and reasonable so that he doesn't end up attracting more trouble than it's worth. But do not mistake his sweet, gentlemanly yet introverted conduct for being an absolute idiot. Regarding relationships, he has chosen to focus on making as many people 'happy' as possible even if it may bite him in the back later on. Compared to his brother, Senji is quieter unless prompted to speak about his passions other than grappling and fighting. Too subtle a pass, romantically at least, will likely fly right over his head. The previous statement and his general demeanor also means that he'll give many types of people a chance before deciding if he wishes for a deeper relationship to some degree or if he needs to stay away from them.

Regarding flaws, he may lack an overabundance of pride or arrogance in himself but he is stuck in a honor-bound mindset that makes him want to win cleanly without playing "dirty". It'll take a row of losses to shake him, and BJJ training requires that one abandon a chip on his shoulder.

In The Ring:

As the “straight man” of the duo, Senji isn't as much of a chatterbox, save for spars, and is prone to consulting with his own thoughts more so than many taunts. The fighter isn't so dry as to not give out small compliments or humor his opponent if they want to talk to him first. If one desires to fluster him, then he'll do his best to be professional and continue the match albeit with a reddened color to his face. It's in that way that he enjoys the journey rather than the end of the match even though he does aim to try to win against opponents he deems himself to have a chance against and not be worth backing out against. He knows the issue of his stunted social skills, so he'll try to express himself directly.

Conversely, he has a minor case of masochism which manifests in his want to battle. This early onset of an aberration is why his master,  Sen’o Tetsuya, saw him as a kindred spirit as well as a student. However, Senji isn't exactly aware of this and it isn't severe enough to convert pain into pleasure as is present in some fighters.



Strategy:

His style is more straightforward, and is in need of refinement. Senji will stick to grappling and basic powerhouse moves to keep up with his opponents. He relies on his arms for striking, performing kicks being a weakness of his and being unfamiliar with defending leglocks. With chokeholds, he is more willing to endure those much to his own detriment unless he is exhausted. Then, it’ll be off to naptime for him. Other than that, he aims to subsist in battles and fight his way to winning rather than facing the sting of many losses.

Style: Striker/Grappling Purist

Chopped Up, Streamlined Version


Thirteen years, over a decade, before the current season, Senji Takijima lived a life of decadence and privilege alongside his older brother, both raised in a second union between a semi-twisted soldier-turned-"bodyguard" and a high-ranking member of a hierarchy, within the multinational trading group known as Primol, dealing with weaponry. All that money, and yet the CEOs of said company could not figure out how to spell the title correctly.

It was an easier time, where all he needed to worry about was figuring out how beat Hiroyuki at Budokai Tenkaichi 3, laugh at how his brother seemed to want to bury his head in the wall when facing the 'extremely easy' fights in Demon's Souls, and live up to the standards his parents set for them both to avoid resorting to the same methods of survival as his father, Kerry Takijima, and his father's brother-in-arms, Sen'o Tetsuya. However, the actions of the latter two would come to have consequences when Senji grew up further. On his tenth birthday, the three would be ambushed by an outnumbering force in an incident made to look like a car accident. Despite this, Kerry and Tetsuya managed to scrape their way to a victory, as well as a shared gamble on being thought of as 'dead' or rendered incapable enough to no longer be pursued, at the cost of no longer being able to risk living in America. As a result, his father was forced to make a decision to change their last name from its redacted original to the current last name, that being Takijima. After all, he would come to the conclusion that the two of them could not defend themselves against every single one of the hostile portions of a Yakuza group before meeting the end of the line.  

In the present time, following his flirtation with a coma for seven years (due to physical trauma gained when he was with his father and "uncle"/master during their violent falling out with a clan by the name of Sanada), has been cut a rather raw deal. After awakening, he was stuck, trying to reconstruct his life after nearly having it snuffed out. As dictated by his father while he was comatose, Senji has been set up in a house to tackle the rest of his life without his hand being held constantly. So, given this, he has been left to pursue a career by himself. While his options were limited, Hiroyuki had managed to get him scouted and begin working for L.A.W – where we now find ourselves.
