Spencer made the bad choice going for Sara. It was true the elf was the younger of the two, but she was also the more athletic, energetic, and adventurous one. As Spencer charged at her, she would agilely sidestep away and try to jump on Spencer's back to bring her into a body-scissors/sleeper combination. The only issue with this attempt was that Sara's expertise in agility, speed, and flexibility were made up for by a lack of strength, something demonstrated earlier.
