After some tumultuous weeks and with the ko round now going, several favorites have already bitten the dust. Only Brazil, England, France and Belgium remain from the top favorites, with France having already advanced one round.

So France is now the new world champion with a 4:2 victory over Croatia.

It was pretty expected, I suppose. Still a pretty darn good tournament.

After the big blunder of Lloris I thought that Croatia could come back and make it a little closer, but the better defender won the game.^^

Jose Mourinho fired as team manager of Manchester United.

Manchester is really struggling to just stay in the international ranks lately, so it was to be expected that he would be fired. Sill it feels strange to read the news about it because he seems so high above the majority of all team managers.

Worst start for over 20 years I think they were saying.

He got on the bad side of a number of quite expensive players and started to turn them into bench warmers (non starting substitutes)... It is all too familar cause the same thing happened with him at Chelsea.

I have to admit that I don´t follow English football as closely as the Bundesliga, but United has De Gea, Martial, Young, Pogba and Lukaku, all guys who are either already acclaimed stars or who have massive potential. Lukaku even sticks out from that list, I found him to be exceptionally good at the EM. so if the miraculously return to prime strength with a new coach, it´s a testament of how piss poor the position of a team manager is.

And speaking of bad stuff, here are the pairing for the CL:
Liverpool vs Bayern
The first real test for Liverpool. Still Bayern is in comparably bad shape at the moment(only 3rd place), and it is the last chance for glory for Robbery. My bet would still be for Liverpool.
Tottenham vs Dortmund
Dortmund is very strong at the moment and leads the Bundesliga. Close call, but I would go for Dortmund.
Manchester City vs Schalke
Manchester City with two clear wins. Schalke plays very bad recently and has bought several guys who are neither Champions League material or do not fit in the rather defensive playing system

I stand corrected, Dortmund failed hard against Tottenham.

In other news, Ajax Amsterdam defeated Real Madrid with 4:1 an advances while Madrid is out of the CL. The loss of CR7 has hit Madrid very hard, this really surprises me. He is an exceptional player, but Real has so many extraordinary players that I thought they could compensate him quickly.

Well, that is sort of what you get when you rely so much on one dude.

There is only one guy of Ronaldo's caliber, and he is not for sale. You can't really combine like three guys into one guy like some mechazord, and their buys were not really that strong anyways.
