Yvette was in danger of losing the round again. She had been so close, been so careful, been so tactical. Yet that single punch had started a chain of events that led to this; Yvette fighting for her life to escape the corner. She managed to bring her guard down, desperate to ensure that this barrage of punches was slowed or weakened. She knew the affect it would have for her face, that's why she intended to make sure that Lorenza would not get that chance.

Her punch did hit into Lorenzas face, it wasn't as strong or as effective as Yvette had hoped. The only reason Lorenza had retreated a step was more from the shock that the punch. Yvette could of swore that Lorenza was half human and half tank. Nothing seemed to phase her, everything Yvette did was just buying her more time to deal the inevitable.

Yvette would take that step forward, she had to. She refused to allow herself to remain in that corner. Thankfully Yvette had learned a lesson about Lorenza, she thrived on counter attacks. So as she took that step forward, she lifted her gloves and raised her guard, which proved critical as a second later she felt a hook hammer the side of her guard. It was a close block, and her arm was on fire, but it was a block. Now it was time to push Lorenza back. There was no chance of Lorenza being stunned, so Yvette would need to use her speed to blitz her way out of the corner.

The second the book hammered her guard, the one point Lorenza could potentially be vulnerable, Yvette fired a left hook at the former champions cheek, followed up by the right jab to the face. Yvette would keep up with Lorenza, any ground Lorenza lost, Yvette would take. Keeping up the attacks she reverses her last combination, throwing a left jab and a right hook in rapid succession. In fact, Yvette would of done it so fast it almost looked like a single.combo. Yvette needed to finish this though, Staying too close to Lorenza was dangerous. She would end her combo by throwing a risky right uppercut into her jawline. This time though, if Lorenza lost ground, she wouldn't take it. She needed that distance. She seemed to perform better when Lorenza couldn't get close and personal.

Lorenza Saldano Vs Yvette King - Standard Boxing - Page 4 Empty Re: Lorenza Saldano Vs Yvette King - Standard Boxing

Lorenza had regained control of the round and the match, dictating the flow and forcing Yvette to bend to her whim, and respond to her decisions and her attacks. This was the position that every boxer dreamed of being in at the start of each match, when all her opponent could do was block and counter, block and counter, block and counter. No time to use any carefully-laid plans of attack, nor time to think and analyze weaknesses to exploit.

That sort of situation wasn't even all that uncommon in the boxing world. The thing was, of course, that the dominant position switched back and forth from boxer to boxer, repeatedly, over the course of a full competitive fight. Lorenza remembered her first match with her rival Carmen—the two of them were champions, heroes of the ring, successful at every turn they had ever found themselves at, and when the two of them met at last, they both had ample opportunity to show off their ability to control the tempo and the flow of the fight. They had both, after all, been knocked down time and again—six times each, even, if Lorenza was remembering right, though the sheer blunt force trauma she sustained that night made her memory rather hazy.

Lorenza would not characterize this fight in the same way. Her own advantage, when she was able to take advantage of it, was entirely clear-cut, while Yvette's advantage always seemed fleeting, temporary—marginal. Still, Yvette was able to break out of positions in which plenty of other professional, powerful boxers had folded. Lorenza's hook met nothing but glove, and then, Yvette countered, throwing a hook of her own that slapped Lorenza's cheek and forced her head to the side again. Lorenza backed up another step. Then, Yvette threw a jab, one which Lorenza was quick to extinguish as she brought back her guard and absorbed the punch between the gloves. Yvette kept coming, firing a left jab which Lorenza easily caught. The hook slipped by over her gloves, however, smashing into her cheek, leaving what was going to be another bruise as Lorenza was once again forced back.

As she retreated, she knew she could not fall victim to the big punch. Any boxer could have a bad night and be knocked out, even in just one punch, but it had never happened to her, and she knew how important it was to avoid that hit. And so, when she saw Yvette winding up for an uppercut, Lorenza made the tough, strategic call: she hopped back, letting the punch slide up her gloves, skidding along as leather slapped leather. No jaw. No chin. Even so, Lorenza had now given Yvette ample space to escape. Such was the trade-off. Lorenza gritted her teeth and grumbled.

Yvette couldn't help but be disappointed in herself. She had hoped that she was about to score the mother of all combos. A payload that would hammer Lorenza into the next round as Yvette as the victor. Sadly, Lorenza was still showing her true skill and getting her guard up far faster that Yvette could of guessed. It wasn't all bad news, she managed to get her hooks to hit and she had gained that vital ground that would allow her to break free.

She remembered her first ever boxing match back in her home town. It was an awful lot like this. The woman she was fighting was a state champion, Yvette only 19, the woman in her latter 20's. For the whole match, the woman controlled the pace, Yvette forced to constantly react to her actions, never given a chance to break away and seize the momentum. It had ended with a nasty loss for Yvette, the older woman put her in her place, turning her face black purple and red in the corner and then knocking her out with a uppercut in the 6th round.

Lorenza was just like that woman, the sheer level of experience she had gave her a more dominant position to control the match. It was pivotal that Yvette denied her that chance. After the brushing uppercut, her Coach was bellowing out orders to hang back, the clock was getting close to the end and hanging back might not get the the round Victory, but the points gap would be narrow. Yvette didn't want that though, she wanted the round and that meant charging in. There was just under 16 seconds left, But Yvette went in, on the balls of her feet, she would start by weaving slightly as she got closer, trying to make sure Lorenza was following her pace with her guard. When she had made up the distance she would get in close, firing a hook into the lower right ribs, as low as she could punch without being illegal. She would hammer that same spot two more times, before leaning back slighlty and throwing a right hook towards the let side of Lorenzas face. The combo was unorthodox, hitting such a strange area, but Yvette hoped that it would force Lorenza to drop her guard lower and then make sure that nasty hook found its mark.

Lorenza should not have let even a single one of that flurry of blows which Yvette launched at her hit. It wasn't that the blonde was a poor boxer—despite her inexperience, she clearly had plenty of potential—but Lorenza was so skilled and had so many years' worth of boxing experience stored up inside her head, including plans for every contingency, that she really should have knocked Yvette out by now. Maybe after the match Lorenza would find time to be impressed with Yvette, with her physical nature and the raw talent which she clearly possessed.

But now? Now, Lorenza just wanted to win. She wanted to beat Yvette into the ground. But right now, she was in retreat, backing up and putting some space in between them, letting Yvette get out of the corner, without being knocked out—without even being knocked down in this round.

There was a quarter of a minute left in the round, now, but that still was enough time to get a few good shots in. And it seemed as if Yvette was going to present Lorenza with a target. The blonde would hurry forward, stepping lightly, closing the distance between them rapidly as she, evidently, wanted to try to get a few more shots in on Lorenza. Lorenza lifted her gloves, glad for this additional opportunity. As soon as Yvette was in range, Lorenza would fire off a quick left jab at the blonde's face. As she did, she felt the woman's fist hit her low in her ribs. Lorenza winced and grunted. She hadn't been hit in that spot very often. Soon, that first punch was followed up by one, two more, which really began to make Lorenza's ribs ache down there.

Annoyed by her opponent, Lorenza, in the closing seconds of the round, would pull back her right arm, then launch a hard right hook at Yvette, trying to hammer her with as hard a shot as possible. At the same time, though, Yvette was throwing a punch of her own. That punch, a right hook which was similar to the one Lorenza threw, slipped by Lorenza's left glove and smashed into her cheek, sending the Mexican wrestler stumbling off to the side, only hoping that her own punch had done as much damage.

With the end of the round ticking closer and closer, Yvette was under intense pressure to keep the momentum and hopefully land herself a round win at least. Sadly however, Lorenza was just as quick as Yvette and fired a left jab into her face, causing her to grunt in pain as a stinging sensation burned it's way through her cheek. Yveete did not relent herself, keeping up the pressure with more of her jabs, trying to prove to the judges in part that she had the right stuff to take this round as a win for herself. The right hook was going to hammer that point home.

Unfortunately, Lorenza seemed to have the same idea and in a rather strange turn, they both landed the same punch on each other at the same time. The punch Yvette received had all of Lorenza's power in it. It send her head to the side and forced to stagger a step or two to the side. Yvette was quick however to slow herself down. She wanted to make sure that it looked like Lorenza had gotten off worse than her. Before Yvette could even look at Lorenza, the bell rang. Yvette carried herself into the corner and sat down on the stool. She was confident she was going to win that round, she had to. She had kept Lorenza at bay and expect for the corner business had been on the offensive most of the time. Her temporary coach was impressed too, however the order of the day now was to avoid Lorenza's wrath. She was going to be pissed after this round and was going to do her best to start the next round with some sort of strong offensive, For now though, Yvette was too focused on having her wounds tended too.

Lorenza staggered a step or two after taking that hook, then quickly arrested her movement, slamming a foot down loudly on the canvas to bring herself to a sudden halt. She knew that they had exchanged near-identical punches just then, but she knew that hers had much more power behind it. She was going to make sure that everyone, judges and audience and Yvette, understood that by the way she recovered from the hook that she took. Before she could do anything else, the bell rang. Lorenza grunted and returned to her corner. That round had not gone according to plan, and it had not gone nearly as well as the first round. Yvette was proving to be more than a mere speed bump, and Lorenza was wondering just how many more rounds it would take to dispatch of her.

The Mexican boxer found her corner and sat down on the stool, controlling her breathing and forcing herself to focus. She had clearly won that round, too, albeit without knocking Yvette down, so it would be scored in her favor, she was sure, by a single point. Not that the scores would matter if Lorenza knocked Yvette out. And she really wanted to knock Yvette out.

As she sat, her corner team tended to the bruises and scrapes which Yvette had inflicted on her, and one of the girls very quickly re-tied the tight ponytail which held Lorenza's long, blueish hair back away from her face. Her coach gave her advice, drawing comparisons to some of her past matches and suggesting strategies. Lorenza nodded, having thought through many of them herself. She needed to assert her control over Yvette right now, as the third round got underway. The referee motioned, and Lorenza would get up, put her mouthguard back in, and stride forward to the center, ready to face Yvette again.

It was getting tougher and tougher for Yvette to carry on now. Every round seemed to be the same. For every step Yvette gained, Lorenza hit back twice as hard with twice the authority. Yvette was fairly convinced that even if Yvette controlled the entire round, if Lorenza scored a single hit it would be enough for her to win the round. For now though, her temp coach began to speak again. This time warning her about Lorenzas brains. She wasn't stupid, competing in the highest level of womens boxing, you had to have a eagle sharp mind and be able to think like a general. Yvette was not going to be able to use the same tactic twice in this match. Her only chance at winning this was to keep Lorenza guessing with varying tactics and methods. But the issue was, Yvette was already running out. Her coach had given her a plan for this round, but how much longer would it be until she ran on dry in her head?

Before Yvette could ponder on it too much, the ref called them both up. Yvette shifted her mouth slightly, making sure that her mouthguard was sitting comfortably. This round was going to be important. It was a 10 round fight sure, but round 3 was always weird. Both fighters had ample time to evaluate their opponent. And now both generally bought forward their A game to make a statement. The ref would signal to touch gloves again, Yvette extending her right glove forward not bothering to put any power behind it this time. That was just wasting valuable energy. Soon the bell would ring, and Yvette wasted no time. Literally no time at all. Before the bell had even finished it ring, as if on instinct Yvette darted forward like a greyhound. The last round Yvette had been defensive, so to mix it up, Yvette was going to keep the offensive momentum this round. It would be a tough call, Keeping Lorenza on the back foot was a tall order to fill, and the amount of energy Yvette was going to expend could come back to bite her in the latter rounds.

Once Yvette had gotten in close, making sure she made a point to get close enough to make punching awkward for Lorenza, Yvette would start her offense. She started with a right jab at the former champions chest. Not exactly dignified but it was going to hurt regardless. Following through with a left hook to the side of the ribs, Yvette would take steps forward with each punch, trying to use her body to convince Lorenza to take a step back for some breathing room, getting her closer and closer to the corner. It was time to give Lorenza a taste of her own medicine.

Lorenza knew what her strategy had to be in this third round. After a second round during which her younger opponent had managed to frustrate her and keep the score close, Lorenza needed to come out and make a statement in this third round. She was the former champion. She had a decade of experience under her belt that Yvette could not match. She would assert her will, force Yvette to dance to the beat of her drum, and eventually knock Yvette out cold when the cute little blonde could no longer keep pace with the punishing rain of blows which Lorenza was about to unleash upon her.

The referee signalled for them to touch gloves, and Lorenza did it perfunctorily, not really giving much thought or effort to it. It was important to remain civilized, but she was not here to make friends with Yvette. She was here to beat her, and that was all that was on Lorenza's mind right now. She stepped back, but as soon as the bell rang she charged forward, wasting no time in going after her blonde foe. As it turned out, Yvette wanted to make a statement, too, and the two women collided with a flurry of blows in the center of the ring.

Yvette got close enough that punches aimed straight at the body would be difficult for Lorenza to launch, but the same would be true for her. Lorenza felt a jab hit her breast, making her growl, before a hook into her ribs made her wince and take a step back. Not to be outdone, she would try to give as good as she got. Yvette wanted to back her up into the corner? She would have to do better than that! Lorenza would throw a left hook at her foe's side, then try to smash a right hook into her solar plexus. She leaned in, almost touching sweaty foreheads with Yvette as she unleashed her own storm of blows on her opponent, both of them swinging away at each other.

The entire fate of this match, could be summarised to the outcome of this round. Nothing was more important than this right now. Yvette was not going to drop the ball with this one. No, this time Yvette was going to prove the point. She was the underdog. No one expects her to win. No one expects her to even do well. Most boxers in Yvettes circumstances would count a close loss to a former champion as a good fight. But not Yvette. She had too much fire in her belly. A loss her was a loss. A loss that Yvette didn't want to give. She couldn't give. When that bell rang, Yvette went forward like wildfire but so did Lorenza, both declaring their intentions clear from the start - to knock the other fucking woman out.

Yvette might of been a rookie compared to Lorenza, but the past two rounds had taught her something about Lorenza's style. It was good yes, and calculated, more so. But, there was something that Yvette could exploit, the fact that Lorenza struggles in tight spaces. Now that wasn't exactly a attribute specific to Lorenza, but more a trait most boxers had. Meeting with Lorenza in the middle, Yvette used her speed to beat Lorenza to the punch, landing that nasty chest shot, gaining a low growl from Lorenza. It did not faze Yvette though, her focus was too strong now. Her punch to the side of the ribs scored too, pushing Lorenza back a step. That in itself to Yvette was a massive concession on Lorenza's part. Lorenza had given Yvette and Inch, now it was time for Yvette to take the whole fucking mile!

When Lorenza went back, Yvette went forward, keeping the distance between them as small as possible. The Lorenza tried to convince Yvette to go back by pushing forwards and launching her own rib attack. Yvette did not even attempt to block it, taking the blow and grunting low when it hit. It stung, but right now she didn't care. She was not yielding this time. Yvette pushed further forward when Lorenza punched her, meaning that solar plexus shot wasn't going to be able to build momentum, it hit, causing Yvette to gasp in slight pain, but it was nowhere as devastating as it should of been under normal circumstances. As Lorenza leaned forward, so did Yvette, their foreheads pushing against one another, yet another sign that neither of them were going to surrender this round. Yvette wished she hadn't gotten her mouthguard in right now. The things she wanted to say to Lorenza right now. Yvette wouldn't waste time, right after Lorenzas second attack, and while they were still touching foreheads, Yvette would fire off a left hook into the side of Lorenza's chest, and then a right hook aiming for the same spot but on the otherside of her body. To finish off she would throw a arcing hook upwards to try and smash he left side of Lorenza's head, breaking the forehead connection both girls shared. Yvette would push forward too with her body and legs, hoping that the punch to the head would force another step back. Yvette was going to win this round. Step. by bloody step.

The third round started in a furious flash of skin and leather. Without any preamble, the two boxers launched into each other, throwing punches and trying to force the other back, or maybe knock her out for good. Lorenza was getting tired of being frustrated by Yvette, this rookie with no experience and no honors under her belt. A little girl who hadn't even been born when Lorenza first started fighting on the streets of Tijuana. A brash, overconfident girl who needed to be taught a lesson!

Yvette, being slightly faster, got in the first couple of shots, and Lorenza had no choice to take a step back as leather singed her flesh and the force of the hard shots caused her to stumble slightly. But she soon was throwing her own punching, smashing Yvette's ribs with a hard punch that buried itself in her side, before winding up and delivering a shot to the solar plexus with her always-dangerous right hand. Unfortunately, Yvette stepped into the blow, and robbed it of its carefully-calculated force. She still wheezed, but she kept coming. As Lorenza now planted her feet solidly on the canvas, she and her foe both leaned in, their sweaty foreheads smacking together and their blue and blonde hair tangling in one combined mess. In this position, Lorenza wished desperately that she could speak, and tell Yvette everything that she thought about her.

Yvette started swinging at her again, but this time Lorenza would not be the one who got caught first. Right as the first hook buried itself in the side of her breast, She would throw a left hook of her own aimed right at Yvette's flank. She took the next punch from Yvette, as well, and made a gurgling, pained noise as it hit, but that wouldn't stop her from throwing a punch which almost mirrored that which her opponent threw, trying to bash in Yvette's chest. Lorenza didn't care if she was getting hit, so long as she was hitting her opponent. The blonde girl would drop first. It was inevitable.

Lorenza couldn't see the uppercut coming towards her head because of the forehead to forehead connection with her foe, and it slammed into her skull without resistance. Lorenza actually had to choke back a cry. That punch had hurt, and it had hurt bad. She couldn't help but lift a foot and bring it down uncertainly on her right side, bending over and stumbling slightly in that direction. At least it wasn't backwards. The side of her face was hot and throbbing, but, intent on retaliating immediately, Lorenza would suddenly straighten up, pulling her right fist out, then swinging it around to send a right hook smashing into Yvette's jaw with a roar!
