Clearly Kiranar has never seen the Super Mario Bros, House of the Dead, Postal, or Dungeon Siege, or Halo films. There are others just as bad as those.

Doom and Prince of Persia were fine, its just the neckbearded fanboys threw shit fits because Doom wasn't bloody enough and they made dumb story changes that we all expected anyway. Had the movie been the same, but shilled Doritos and Mountain Dew, fanboys would have loved it.

I really enjoyed the Predators film and I wish it had made enough money for a proper sequel.

As for GOOD remakes, "Dredd" was fucking awesome, but of course, nobody saw it and it made no money. Maybe if people stopped seeing shitty remakes like Total fucking Recall or the lame ass Conan and Robocop films, things would change.

Personally, I'm just waiting to hear when their going to reboot the Harry Potter and Lord of The Rings films. Don't even bother thinking studios aren't doing everything in their power to get those green lit right now.

I do have to agree that Dredd was indeed a great remake. I really did enjoy that movie, far better than the original.

Judge Dredd and Doom had one thing in common, Karl Urban.

He is my new Nicolas Cage where no matter how terrible the movie is, I will watch it just because I enjoy the acting (or in this case complete lack of..)

Dredd was entertaining. He is a character that should have been dark from the get go. The stallone one is funny, but I'd rather watch the Urban one.

Granted they don't have the same effect or following as some movies that have already been remade, but no... Memento was awesome (one of my favourite movies) and only came out in 2000... Flight of the Navigator, bill and ted's and ghostbusters were great movies with good nostalgia... Jumanji, cliffhanger, commando (although I can't remember the ending) were all good. Leaving just Never ending story (which I haven't seen so can't comment), Honey I shrunk the kids and police academy (which were both over done).

But are you trying to suggest that its ok for them to remake old shit films that have a following? If the meal was shit the first time you ate it, why would it taste better after you've regurgitated it? Generally remakes (with some exceptions) are worse then the original, so if the original was already bad...

Total Recall was proper shit... Since watching it, I haven't seen another remake

I am more of a Sequel guy if a movie has to be ridden until it colapses, so no, I don´t want to see a rising star play Frodo and Gary Oldman Gandalf or something like that.

And indeed, Jumanji and Cliffhanger were actually not bad. Ghostbusters is awesome, it was in the topic for my eyes and not listed.

Predators is a Sequel, and I liked that part where Dutch is mentioned. But lets be honest here, the only difference is that the informed woman was not a native person but a military chick, the indian guy was a black guy and the second Predator was killed in a fair fight by a human.

And it took place on a completely different planet, and it featured a group of people who'd never worked together before who were put on said planet just to be hunted as opposed to a group of mercs who dropped into a jungle under false pretenses, and one of them was a nutso serial killer, and there were four Predators instead of one, and three of the Predators were part of a rival clan that's never been seen before in Predator lore, and there was a scene where two Predators fought, and they used alien dogs and different traps...

But yeah, aside from all those differences, pretty much the same movie. >_>;

I really liked Predators. It felt like coming home to a movie I loved. Circumstances for the team were different and the team was new but very familiar, and that was novel.

But can you really say that it was a new movie? Is Star Wars 7 a new movie?^^

Um...

Yes. Yes, it is a new movie.

I'm a tad confused by your logic. In what way could Star Wars 7 not be seen as a new movie?

I think it is as much a hommage to SW4-6 as it is a new movie. Don´t get me wrong, both movies are nice and stand on their own, but they are so familiar that I can´t shake the feeling that they come very close to a reboot.

Edit: Thinking a little bit about it, I am probably just wrong.^^
