Boot the Reboots
So I just about reached acceptance in the 5 stages of grief having watched the Ghostbusters trailer (*just* the trailer, not even the film ¬.¬ ). And then I found out just how many other (rumored) reboots the Hollywood fat cats have in store for us... Including: Flight of the navigator, Honey I shrunk the kids, Commando, cliffhanger, memento (mother fucking memento... >.< ), Never ending story, bill and teds excellent adventure, police academy and Jumanji
I'm getting tired of having this unimaginative regurgitation of my favourite meals I ate last week served up to me on a plate... And whats really annoying is that its always gonna pay off for them, they know that people are gonna go watch it cause of the name tag, so there is absolutely no need to put any effort in or treat the homages delicately... Its like they have their hairy sweaty hands clasped tightly around our balls when it comes to these films.
I fear it is just a matter of time before I hear about a Back to the Future remake...
They must be stopped

Re: Boot the Reboots
Robert Zemeckis says he will do everything in his power to stop a Back to the Future remake from ever happening, so no worries there.

Re: Boot the Reboots
All the movies you listed are terrible or are already deep down in sidetreck movies(Honey i shrunk X), have been sequeled heavily(Police Academy) or hijacked by old guys like Schwarzenegger who obviously simply refuses to allow other people to play a T800 terminator in a movie. I am a massive fan of Terminator 2 and watched the movie over and over, but have yet not found the hearth to watch the latest movie because it just seems so bad.
Commando, really? The final fight of Commando is one of the worst movie endings ever. I like the general idea of the movie, give a shit about the demands of kidnappers and kill your way through their lines with guns and garden tools(lol), but you see at every end that it is an 80s movie and should stay there.
Maybe it will give you some solace that some reboots are actually decent to good, like Total Recall or Predators for example.

Predators wasn't a reboot, it was a sequel. And Total Recall was one of the biggest piecest of shit I've ever seen. I seriously conisdered just walking out halfway through and instead just going to see the last few minutes of Dark Knight Returns, instead. I regret not doing that.

It definitely doesn't give me any hope for the quality of these movies.

Granted they don't have the same effect or following as some movies that have already been remade, but no... Memento was awesome (one of my favourite movies) and only came out in 2000... Flight of the Navigator, bill and ted's and ghostbusters were great movies with good nostalgia... Jumanji, cliffhanger, commando (although I can't remember the ending) were all good. Leaving just Never ending story (which I haven't seen so can't comment), Honey I shrunk the kids and police academy (which were both over done).
But are you trying to suggest that its ok for them to remake old shit films that have a following? If the meal was shit the first time you ate it, why would it taste better after you've regurgitated it? Generally remakes (with some exceptions) are worse then the original, so if the original was already bad...
Total Recall was proper shit... Since watching it, I haven't seen another remake

Re: Boot the Reboots
There were some parts of terminator that were pretty good but mostly it didnt mesh well enough to really be all that great. Jurassic World was a good movie that could serve as a reboot or just a very good sequel with a nice open ending. The only movie that made me want to walk out mid movie was DOOM which was by far the worst movie made from a video game.
