YIM! problems

Ok, so I dug around on the internet, but I am not sure where else to turn.

I am having an issue with my yahoo instant messenger. I can send messages just fine, but the problem is as soon as I hit send they disappear. And I can't read text that anyone else sends me. If the messages are somewhat short I can read them if I manage to catch them in the bottom right of my screen, but otherwise I can read exactly nothing.

The internet told me to check for upgrades, and I found none. The internet told me to restart my computer, which solved nothing. After some research, I found that a virus apparently makes YIM very silly, but I went through the process to eliminate that virus (which involved playing with the registry editor, which I was reticent about) and discovered that I did not have that particular virus at all.

Every time I log in to YIM, I get a message from Yahoo saying that they have disabled something, but because the message is too long I can only even get to disabl-. So what gives? Have y'all had this problem, and if you have, what is the solution?

Are you using the Yim client? If so... Don't. Try trillan or just log in from your browser with something like iwantim.com

Of course, if its a yahoo network thing, you're probably just screwed doe a while. Yahoo is prone to those.

Tai had this exact same problem a couple of days ago, and it's intermittently (ha! spelled that right on the first try) happened to me a few times in the past. YiM just sucks, yeah. Wish more people would Skype.

Will try out trillian, and should that fail, I guess I will just tough it out.

I have Skype. I just don't use it with you guys. :V

I wish more of you would use AIM.

How is AIM any better?

I don't have problems with AIM. I have issues with YIM all the time.

Especially since I'm using an older version. ;P

Should probably add my two cents to this. I've not had any problems with YIM today, been speaking with a few of the people here on the site and had no problems. Least not on my end.
