Off the World

Mercy turned her head. She could feel her heart beating a bit more at Clyde's enthusiasm. Those same old confusing sensations. It was difficult. She turned back and looked at Clyde with a small smile.

"Well, I guess I'll call you sometime then." She said. "And we can set something up." She sat up and smiled at Clyde. "Wellll, thanks for the coffee Clyde and thanks for looking out for me. I really appreciate it." She said, her smile becoming a little more genuine.

"Ohhh." She suddenly dropped. "Who knows what would have happened if I had went home with some stranger, ughhh." She then looked up at Clyde and smiled just a bit.

Wait, Mercy was being serious about this!?

It took a moment for it to sink into Clyde. Mercy said she'd... Call him sometime.

Clyde Gastin could not contain having the widest smile ever.

"I... Yeah... 'C-'Course..." He stuttered before hearing Mercy out, getting serious for a moment before he saw her smile, and his smile returned just as quickly.

"Well... In my experiences. Sometimes meetin' a stranger can end up the best thing you ever had." He said with a smile before realizing he might have said too much.

"I-I should go... Gotta uh... Train! I'ma be fightin' Carmen for the 24/7 title and uh... Yeah! C-Call me or I'll call- yeah." He said with a red face before turning to leave out the pad.

"I'll call you." Mercy corrected quickly. "But, good luck, Clyde." Mercy added and closed the door behind Clyde.

"Uh... Ok!" Clyde said from the doorway. "Thank G-...Goodnight!" He added as the door closed, a bittersweet feeling coming over him. He hoped he didn't say too much too soon.

But patching things up with Mercy made him smile greatly, he felt honestly happy. His only regret was that he didn't talk about why they broke up in the first place, which is what he wanted to do.

All the same he went down with the widest smile as his heart raced with excitement.

"It's morning, Clyde..." Mercy mumbled as she closed the door. She shook her head and then plopped onto her couch and sighed deeply. She wished her heart would stop pounding.

"Oh." How did he forget that? "Im this nervous!?!?" He asked himself before the door closed and he sighed deeply. Happy that he and Mercy seemed to have another chance. Upset that he got cold feet in asking her why things went bad in the first place. He didn't want a repeat.

"...Love you..." He muttered softly before going down the hallway.

By the time he left the apartment building, he was seeing the positives and couldn't contain his happiness. Maybe Mercy could hear it, but from the parking lot, a certain cowboy was yelling "YAAA-HOOO!!!" as he walked away.
