Lightning Tournament Semifinals: Akiha Kosha Vs. Gabbie Desjardin

Akiha was down on the ground, still in pain from the brutal attacks that Gabbie had given to her.  She took a moment to take a breath before starting to roll away.  As the raven hair wrestler was rolling away, she was hit in the side by a brutal soccer kick making her scream in pain.  Yet she continued to roll and now managed to get out of the ring.  She landed on her feet and would now stay out of the ring trying to recover from the recent hits she had taken as she was holding the side of her chest as she had been kicked there.

The Japanese wrestler knew if she stayed out of the ring for too long she would be counter out and Gabbie would be declared the winner, but it was a ten count so she had plenty of time unless her opponent came after her. Getting out of the ring had probably given her a chance to recover and she may have broken her opponent momentum.

Gabbie was satisfied enough as Akiha was punished once more and took the better part of valor and escaped out of the ring. The Canadian knew she should probably follow, but she didn't like the idea of fighting outside of the ring and backed away. She also wasn't going to be accused of playing dirty, either.

So when backed away to the middle of the ring to let the referee start to count, she bounced up and down on her feet, remaining loose and confident as she threw a few punches in the air. She was always making sure her form was perfect and that everything was right for when Akiha returned to the ring. Still, even as she boxed, her eyes never left the black haired Japanese wrestler, Gabbie's stone cold stare of determination unwavering.

It seemed Akiha got the break she was looking for as Gabbie decided not to pursue her outside the ring.  The referee had begun to count her out, but it would be a while before she would finish her count, giving the Japanese wrestler plenty of time to recover and get her head back in the game.  As she waited outside she would take a look at Gabbie, watching her throw a few punches in the air but the Canadian never took her eyes off Akiha.  The raven hair wrestler could tell from that look that Gabbie was determined to win.  Still Akiha was not going to back down and do whatever it took to win. Now having had a few moments to recover Akiha would make her way to the ring, trying to climb it.

Once Akiha started to get back into the ring, Gabbie's hands dropped to her sides and her body stiffened. For the few seconds the Japanese girl was sifting through the ropes, Gabbie was motionless, waiting for Akiha to stand up and get back to the ready position.

She waited until it looked like Akiha was clear from the ropes and pulled up her fists in a tight guard. Getting close had worked before, so she hunched her shoulders and rushed back in, trying to disrupt Akiha's concentration with quick, crisp, harassing jabs aimed at Akiha's face to let Gabbie get close enough for a powerful knee strike to the gut.

Akiha had managed to get into the ring without incident which was a bit of a relief as sometimes getting into the ring could prove to be a problem.  Keeping her eyes on Gabbie, Akiha could see her getting her fists ready.  That is when Akiha realized something, Gabbie seemed to be treating this like a kickboxing match or something along those lines thus, she need to hit her opponent with something that would never happen in those kinds of matches.

As Gabbie started to rush her, Akiha would take a step forward before jumping into the air and attempt to hit her opponent with a drop kick in hopes of sending her opponent back before Gabbie could get a shot in.  The raven hair wrestler hoped that such an attack would take her opponent off guard.

Gabbie rushed in with the same sort of energy and determination she had before, expecting to lay into Akiha with some good set up boxing. However, Akiha was right in her calculations and while Gabbie had become used to the wrestling aspect of wrestling, she still didn't have much of an answer when the Japanese girl left her feet.

"Guuuh!?"

Akiha's feet planted into Gabbie's modest chest and stopped her into her tracks, throwing her backwards and off her feet as she crashed into the canvas. She slapped her fist against the canvas and began the process of standing back up as she rubbed her chest with one hand.

It seemed Akiha gamble had paid off.  She had managed to hit Gabbie right in the chest with a drop kick, sending her opponent down to the wrestling mat.  Seeing that her attack was successful and that Gabbie was starting to get up again, Akiha would get up and run towards the ropes, bouncing off them.  She would then charge back towards Gabbie and try to hit her with another drop kick and build up some momentum.

Gabbie was midway to a standing position when Akiha came at her. The second she spent in frustration had given the Japanese girl the time she needed to build momentum. This time the kick hit her in the sides and with another sharp hiss, Gabbie was thrown off her feet and into a roll.

The Canadian ran out out of real estate with the second tumble and spilled out of the ring, crashing onto the thin mats below as she shook her head and groaned outside of the ring, slowly pushing to her hands and feet.

Akiha charged forward and managed to hit Gabbie with a drop kick.  This time, it sent her opponent out of the ring.  It felt good to get some revenge on her opponent for those head shots, in fact, her head was still hurting from those attacks.  She now waited in the center of the ring, deciding not to chase Gabbie.  Instead, she would keep her eye on her, having a nasty surprise ready for her opponent once she got back to her feet.

Gabbie, like Akiha before her, knew that she had a good twenty or so seconds to get back into the ring. The count was ten, but the counts themselves took abotu two or three seconds.

The Blonde gor to her hands and knees and leaned against the apron, clutching her side. The driopkicks had more force than normal kicks so even a couple felt like a few rounds of kickboxing, but Gabbie was used to that kind of pain. She was more upset for getting caught up in Akiha's attack. Pissed at herself for relying too much on her kickboxing.

After about five seconds of cursing herself and catching her breath, she threw her arm onto the apron and heaved herself up and rolled herself back into the ring and get back to work.
