Romana v Songbird - Page 6 Empty Re: Romana v Songbird

Romana gratefully took the water, starting to come round again. The ice pack made her twich, and prompted goosepimples to form on her slender legs, but the German girl realised this was all to help her.
Eventually Romana sat up and smiled rather sheepishly. “Thanks, hun, that’️s really good of you,” she said, “not many girls would do that.”
Romana seemed kind of embarrassed. She explained: “I normally hold out a bit longer than that, to be honest. I’️m usually better at staying out of harm’️s way... maybe I’️m better when fans are cheering me, I don’️t know. “
She kept chatting as Songbird tended to her. “Anyway, you’️re really good! You must have done a lot of training. I hope this wasn’️t a waste of time for you...”

Songbird smiled and said, "Yeah, maybe you're better off with fans who are devoted to you. And yes, I have done a lot of training, me and my younger brother, Shatter actually. You see, my Daddy was a pro wrestler while my Mother was a skilled martial arts expert. The mixed training they gave made us quite strong, flexible, and very active."

She then carefully unlaced Romana's boots and slowly slipped them off until her bare feet showed, remembering that there was pain inflicted on her ankles from her previous submission hold. After removing the ice pack, Songbird took out a bottle of soothing lotion from her kit, placed it in her hands and started massaging both Romana's legs and feet. "But unlike the other wrestlers here, Shatter and I wish to help people and to know God loves them."

Romana smiled as her legs and feet were massaged with the lotion. Songbird was good, and she was content to lay back and enjoy the other girl’️s soothing hands. The treatment was a welcome, if unexpected, end to the match.
“Well, true, there aren’️t too many girls like that round here,” Romana began chatting. “But isn’️t wrestling a strange way of trying to help people? I mean, no offence Songbird, but your skills make you a pretty well-conditioned fighting machine. You could also cause a lot of hurt if you wanted to. Don’️t you see a contradiction? Don't get me wrong, I know all about having to follow in the family footsteps...”

Songbird frowned when she heard about following her family. "Well, actually me and my brother didn't want to wrestle in the first place. You see, we wanted to go to college and Dad suggested that wrestling would be a good way to get the money we need. We both had an undefeated year, but it turned out we were stuck on a five-year contract. I really wanted to be a Broadway star while Shatter goes on to be a doctor. We just hope and pray that God helps us to get out somehow and achieve our goals." She continued massaging Romana's feet as her fingers smoothened between her toes.

“Actress huh?” Romana laughed and shook her head. “And to think, my family were entertainers but I rebelled to be a wrestler. We’️re both going in opposite directions!”
Romana seemed to find this thought quite funny. She finally pulled her feet away from Songbird, the massage having done its work. “Thanks hun.”
“Afraid I can’️t help you with the contract stuff,” Romana said, slowly beginning to stand. “I’️d like to, but it’️s not my field of expertise. Maybe you should stick with the wrestling – you are pretty good after all. Is it all that different from entertaining people on a stage?”

"Well," Songbird answered. "I can still provide money for others since I rarely have any interest in myself, but I love to sing and Broadway is one of my greatest inspirations. Everything from Singing in the Rain, Bye Bye Birdie, Oklahoma, Phantom, Les Miserables, you name it!"

Romana rubbed her chin thoughtfully. “I spent a lot of time as a performer... it’️s not always the great life some people seem to think it is. But then, I am truly terrible at singing,” she laughed.
“Good luck anyway!” she added. Romana tossed the ice-pack over for Songbird to catch.
“...though this place needs all the nice girls it can get –so be careful!”

Songbird caught the ice pack and put it back in her kit. She even gave back Romana's boots. "Thanks, I'm gonna need it." She then stood up and went to get something from under the ring. It was her guitar! "Say, I was wondering if you'd like to hear a little preview of my singing?"

"Go for it hun," smiled Romana, "just don't expect much from me, I'm fairly atonal. One skill I could never master..." The German girl hopped up to sit on the top rope, quite happily balancing there, propping her chin on her hand to listen to Songbird.

Songbird smiled as she started to tune her guitar. "Thanks, Romana. Hope you like it." She then began to strum a few notes and started to sing peacefully as her music was in slow but harmonious tempo.

"I learned to chop a tree today
I laughed so hard I cried
And Billy helped and scraped his knee
But he took it all in stride
Day by day I get by
Makin' do the best I can
When the sun slowly sets
Just behind our hill
Then the memories come
In the evening chill
How I long for your touch
Like a lover will
Oh, I'm missin' you
God, I'm missin' you
My Bill

The parlor roof still leaks a bit
Where the gable meets the eave
You always meant to get to it
But I know you had to leave
Thank God there's so much to do
It's the work that gets me through
When the sun slowly sets
Just behind our hill
Then the memories come
In the evening chill
How I long for your touch
Like a lover will
Oh, I'm missin' you
God I'm missin' you
My Bill

So I count the days
And I think up ways
To speed them by
But when day is through
I remember you and cry
When the sun slowly sets
Just behind our hill
Then the memories come
In the evening chill
How I long for your touch
Like a lover will
Oh, I'm missin' you
God I'm missin' you...
My... Bill"
