Champ vs Champ, Tension vs Friction, John vs Angel - Page 2 Empty Re: Champ vs Champ, Tension vs Friction, John vs Angel

John’️s side hurt. It was a hard kick, he could shrug off a lot of things but that was a hard kick. Despite it, though, John was still going to attack. When in doubt, attack. However, he had to avoid exposing that side to his opponent for the moment. Those strong and fast legs were a definite threat. She was on the ground now, though, where he could try to use his submissions skillset.

John moved as fast as he could, trying to grab Angel’️s boots before she could react. He quickly tried to hook Angel’️s leg as if going for a Texas Cloverleaf, bending her left leg over her right and trying to step over her left ankle. If he was able, he’️d then weave his arm through her legs, clasping them together while he twisted her body to force Angel on his chest. If he did it right, he’️d be able to pull back and put pressure on her legs and knee, catching her in a Rivera Cloverleaf.

Champ vs Champ, Tension vs Friction, John vs Angel - Page 2 Empty Re: Champ vs Champ, Tension vs Friction, John vs Angel

While Angel was trying to shake off the effects of John's sweep, the Tension grabbed at her, catching her by the boots before she had a chance to react. She was confused as to just what he was doing, but the moment he started to bend her leg, stepping over it, she knew what was up.

He was trying to trap her in...some sort of hold, she wasn't sure what yet. There was no doubt he had already figured out her strongest point and wanted to take it away from her. This early in the match though, when she was still feeling pretty good? There was no way she was just going to lie there and let him tangle her up into whatever he was going for. After all, she may have been taken by surprise, but she wasn't going to go down so easy!

As John moved to try and weave his arm through Angel's legs, the Friction champion planted her hands against the mat, trying to kick her body upwards, trying to buck herself up. She was hoping the sudden, disruptive movement would stop John from what he was trying to do, hoping it would at least throw him off his balance so that she could make a real attempt at breaking his efforts. If not, then she knew she was stuck, and knew that he'd be able to get her into that nasty hold.

Champ vs Champ, Tension vs Friction, John vs Angel - Page 2 Empty Re: Champ vs Champ, Tension vs Friction, John vs Angel

This was a mistake John had made before, going for something too complicated or taking way to long to execute a hold because he wanted it to be done perfectly. Not only that, but he had also wanted to show off in front of the other champ with a complex hold. Showing off made him look silly, in the long run. Inept. He was irritated at himself for doing that.

John let out a grunt as he was buffeted away and nearly fell down, managing to catch himself. “Yeah…I deserved that.” He said, half mumbling it (though it was probably loud enough for Angel to hear). He should have gone for something simple, that was a serious tactical error.

Now John wheeled around on his feet, facing Angel who was still on the ground. She was completely free of his grasp, but he was still alert and ready. Almost as soon as the words came out of his mouth, he had jumped up and was aiming to land his forearm across her chest. It was basic and rushed, but his current dilemma was his own doing.

"You totally did..." Angel smirked up at John, as the Tension champ stumbled away from her. She was glad to have knocked him away, but she was still in a bad spot. He was on his feet and she was still on her back, and that needed to be changed now. Staying grounded like this wouldn't do anything but keep her stuck on the defensive, and that was no way to win a match.

However, it didn't seem like John was going to give her a chance to recover. Before she knew it, he had already spun around, dropping towards her with his forearm strike. Angel's own eyes grew slightly wide, as her instincts took over, the Latina desperately rolling herself to the side to get out of the way of the attack.

Once she had rolled to the side, ending up on her frontside, Angel began to push up to her hands and knees, starting to get back up. No more lying around like some newcomer to the ring. It was time to get back up and start mounting an offense. She just hoped John didn't have any more surprises for her. He was proving to be a tricky opponent.

John was smirking back as he launched back at Angel. It was a shame this could be the only time they fought, despite his irritation with himself, he was having a blast. She knew what she was doing and she had a nice, competitive, personality while still keeping up a level of sportsmanship and even humor. These were all qualities John respected in an opponent.

That respect made John want to go harder. As he sailed down to drop his forearm on her, Angel managed to roll away and just manage to avoid his strike. Instead, John landed on his front, the wind knocked out of him, his left side facing Angel.

John, too, knew he had to get up. He rolled to the left, his little shrapnel scars visible for a moment as he got onto his back and tried to kick himself up as fast as he could. He knew if he couldn’️t get up before Angel, he’️d be at a distinct disadvantage, but right now she appeared to be getting up first.

Champ vs Champ, Tension vs Friction, John vs Angel - Page 2 Empty Re: Champ vs Champ, Tension vs Friction, John vs Angel

Angel was quick to scramble back up to her feet. She hated being grounded like that, and she knew once she was back up she could take control of things. John was good, but he seemed a bit hasty to Angel, too quick to throw himself at her. As long as she could keep her cool, she figured she could use that against him, just like she had just did. He was down, and she was back up. She was more than okay with that.

As she got up on her feet though, turning her attention fully back onto the Tension champion, she noticed him already rising up as well. She knew she needed to strike now. She might have been back on her feet, but she wasn't about to let him get back up!

With quick steps, the Latina darted in towards John. Just like before, her right leg came up towards him, Angel firing off another kick as she approached the man. Her leg swung sharp through the air, trying to smash directly into his right side. She just hoped that this time, he wouldn't be able to block in time.

John was being stupid, he had to re-orient himself. Brute force was not the answer, he had to fight smarter. He knew this, and he knew it would take him a moment to regain the initiative. Just as he managed to get up, though, Angel took it to him again.

He was half way up and had no time to avoid it, and he couldn’️t just absorb it like last time. This time her foot smacked into his right side again, the side that had taken the blow last time. “Gnung…” John let out as he felt the kick smack into his side. He sharply drew in air as he skidded down.

John’️s left hand came out as he fell to the ground, catching it so he didn’️t fall completely on his ass, but he was still really vulnerable as he scrambled to his feet and backed away, trying to get some distance from those powerful legs once he was up. He supposed he might look a little silly, slipping and sliding like that, but that was the last thing on his mind.

"Yeah!" shouted the Latina, looking victorious as her leg slammed into John, sending him to the mat. Score a point for Angel, her plan of 'kicking John over and over again' was finally showing some success.

She took a step towards him as he went down, ready to lift her leg up again, this time wanting to drop it down over it body, but before she could do such a thing, the champion of Tension caught himself, pushing right back up to his feet and scrambling away from her. "Oh no you don't, little boy!" she playfully called his way, as she took off after him, jumping into the air and thrusting both her boots towards him, aiming a dropkick straight for John's body.

((OOC: I’️m sorry for the long delay, my grandmother went into the hospital this week and it’️s gotten VERY time consuming to stay with her. She’️s fine now though.))

John’️s slowness was getting him into trouble here. It was fine when he was landing blows, but a desire to show off had gotten him into trouble now. Each time he got hit, it took him longer to reply. He let out a groan as he scrambled, then heard what Angel said “Little?” John asked with a smirk.

She jumped at him, and John gasped out, her two boots flying straight for his chest. They hit him hard, sending him down onto his back, groaning as he clutched his chest and tried to roll away from her.

Angel dropped to the mat after her dropkick smashed into John, sending the man falling onto her back. She smiled, rolling over and climbing back to her feet, watching as John began to roll away from her.

"Aw, running away?" she teased, getting back up and planting her hands onto her hips, giving him a smug smile. She was feeling pretty confident right now, and couldn't help herself but to posture a little bit. "Come on. Get back up and come fight me like a man. Unless you really are a little boy...?" she continued on, holding her ground but giving the Tension champ an honest chance to get back up.
