Re: Batman v. Superman
Jessie Eisenberg made for a terrible Lex Luthor.
For starters, Eisenberg has only/can only play/ed one character in his career. The eccentric, neurotic, fast talking awkward nerd.
So as a result, this Luthor has to be changed to fit that, and none of it felt right, there was never any sense of power or menace to him.
Luthor is supposed to be both powerful enough to lead a villain supergroup, intelligent enough to outsmart and outgambit pretty much anybody, and petty enough to run an 80 million dollar presidential campaign just to piss Superman off.
This Luthor...likes to talk really fast and stroke naked dead aliens faces.
His entire character is just: "I HATE SUPERMAN...BECAUSE...UM...REASONS!" and that's all there is too it. At no point are we given any reason WHY he hates Superman, or how he figured out Supermans and Batmans identities.
What the hell was his plan anyway? Sure, if Superman killed Batman...then Doomsday would kill Superman? I guess that would work on killing Superman, but then what about Doomsday? and hell, if Batman HAD killed Superman, then what the fuck would he have done with Doomsday!?
His motivations were all over, unexplained and unrefined, Doomsday was pointless and felt like he was just thrown in at the end so they had somebody to fight, which is a shame cause a "Zod reborn as Doomsday" story could have been enough by itself, and Luthor came off as just "crazy mad scientist" than having any character of his own.
Granted, they MIGHT have been able to give him character if he wasn't using almost every line of dialogue to cram the "GODS! JESUS! SATAN! DON'T YOU LIKE HOW SUBTLE WE ARE WITH OUR CONSTANT BIBLE IMAGERY FOR THESE MOVIES!"
Zack Snyder needs to go the fuck away. His "Artist vision" sucks. Why he thought Jessie Eisenberg would make a better Lex Luthor than Bryan Cranston, I've no idea.

Heck, if Superman killed Batman, he'd still be screwed. The only reason Superman killed Batman was because of the kryptonite spear that Batman made, which Superman probably wouldn't have even had a chance to use if Batman didn't bring his attention to it. If not for that, Doomsday probably would've killed Superman. It might've taken him a while, but he'd have done it, since it was established that only a Kryptonian weapon could do the job.
...come to think of it, how did Superman know that would work? How did he know that stabbing him with the spear would kill him, when he just regenerated from everything else and got stronger? It seems like a bit of a leap, really. Doomsday's Kryptonian in origin in the comics, too, but to the best of my knowledge Kryptonite doesn't bother him, there.

There was one movie a were Jessie played a pretty scary Villian who was the twin to his typical character. He has more range then your giving him credit for.

Re: Batman v. Superman
I finally got around to seeing it yesterday. It definitely had some big flaws, but several of the ones most heavily focused on didn't really bother me that much.
Loved the action, and thought most of the first like 75% of the movie was actually great. But it did focus too much on being a setup for future movies. I haven't read a DC comic ever, but I never really felt lost in any of it. Actually had a lot of fun watching it really.
- Spoiler:
- I was fine with Batman killing in the scenarios he did it in, though it would've been nice if it at least was seen as a moral dilemma too. But overall I loved Affleck's Batman.
One scene that kinda bugs me was the dream sequence where Flash (I think) appeared to Bruce at the end. I'm pretty sure it was all a dream, but it looked like Flash was giving him a legit warning from the future. Can he time travel through people's dreams or something? Idk, but it was weird. And the fact that Flash warned him that "Lois was the key" to everything, and Batman himself never did anything with that info the rest of the movie, like that part was just for the audience and not Batman.
I liked Doomsday, though I agree that he shouldn't have been in this one, and that it will be hard to "up the ante" in future Justice League movies.
I enjoyed the little clips with Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg, even though it might've been an underwhelming way to establish the future heroes in the Justice League.
Worst part of the movie BY FAR for me was how Batman and Superman basically stopped fighting because they found out their mothers had the same name.
Thought Jesse Eisenberg played a good antagonist, but an awkward Lex Luthor, if that makes any sense.

Technically speaking that wasn't Lex Luthor but his son, Alexander Luthor.
