I'm just glad they aren't going to call it the unified wwe title. Shouldhhave beenthe unified world champion but I guess the unified champ is mostly acceptable. Oh well.

Better question....Why the HELL is WWE throwing away a match this big on a throwaway PPV like TLC?


I mean, yeah, I can admit, all 4 TLC events have been awesome with great matches and I own all 4 on DVD. But a match that is supposed to be a freaking huge deal like having a "Unified Champion" again should have months of build up leading up to Wrestlemania, not given 3 weeks of buildup for TLC.


Then again, WWE made the same mistake when they did the Undisputed title in 2001. Imagine if that title match had gone down at Wrestlemania 18 instead of Vengeance 2001. Hogan/Rock, Taker/Flair, AND the first ever Undisputed Champion crowned? That would have been epic.

I honestly don't think WWE was expecting Cena to be able to come back in the mix so soon, and is having issues furthering their stories now.

They're throwing it all at TLC because of how badly Battleground did. And that did really fucking badly.

Not December to Dismember badly but still, its <150k buys. They need a guarenteed money match to tide things over. To be honest, I'm not surprised, going in to Battleground it was like the 2nd PPV in a month, with Hell in a Cell just 2 weeks away. They already showed at night of champions that there was gonna be a screwjob so even if you wanted to buy it to watch Bryan, you knew things weren't going to end happy. A fuck finish leads to no replay buys and so forth and so-forth.

If they hadn't stripped Bryan the night after Night of Champions and actually tried to make Bryan seem like a star instead of just a "B+" then it would have done much better. But for now his time on top is going down there with 1995 Diesel levels of anti-draw. Which sucks, because it looks like they set him up to fail.

He's probably not done by a longshot but he's gonna be at best in the Jericho position. A plan B for when everyone else is injured and they need someone who can at least pop a crowd in the interim.

Yeah, your right. Bryan's gonna be either the Jericho "Eh, make him champion as Plan B" kinda thing, or take over Kane's old role as "Meh, lets build him up for a main even title shot once a year, probably in an Elimination Chamber, and then ignore the fuck out of him the rest of the year"

For a bit of perspective on the whole PPV buys front. ECW December to Dismember in 2008 (I think) got 95k buys, that's the lowest of the modern era.

The general floor for buyrates in WWE normally is 175 thousand, that's a buyrate when things are extremely shitty. Doing less than 150k is a disaster.


But also bare in mind that TNA is lucky to do 10 thousand buys for big shows. So incase any TNA fan thought "Aha, now is the time to strike" yeah, no.

According to another website, Battleground had 122K buys and is the 3rd worstbought PPV in modern times after December to remember as kerflubble said, but Vengeance 2011 was also less bought than BG. The card reads rather good, but the build up for almost all matches was horrible.

Vengeance 2011 was another sufferer of the mid-october "Oh crap we got 3 PPVs in 6 weeks" I think. They did a ring break spot for Henry/Show and then made Cena fight ADR in a Last Man Standing match among the wreckage, which was a pretty cool thing, but yeah. No Buys.

Is that ppv in general just lower than the rest cause of its slot?

Partly, but 3rd worst is not a position you want to be in the main event of.
