Ice Storm
So, for those of you who are not aware, the city of Toronto was recently blanketed with two days of freezing rain, which coated everything-- buildings, roads, trees, sidewalks, power lines-- in a fine layer of ice. This caused complete and utter havoc: trees collapsed on roads or tore down/out power lines, and some suspended power lines came down on roads as well. The entire city was plunged into darkness overnight.
My house in one of the suburban regions was powerless for about forty-eight hours. We had to fend off the cold until it came back on last night. We were alright all throughout the ordeal, but...wow that was a scary time. Scary and annoying, because I was literally cut off from the internet for forty-eight hours.

Re: Ice Storm
I'm still cut off here, but honestly the real problem is all the frozen trees. The temperature probably isn't going to go above 0 anytime soon, so the city's going to have to deal with them throughout the winter.

Hope you get power back soon, then. I hear that the whole of the GTA should be restored by Thursday, at the very least.
