Makie Akamatsu vs. Armando 'Army' Rodriguez - Let's You and Him Fight, Part 2

Army's music came over the Tension audience a few hours later, and the crowd was quickly on their feet and ready. Tension staff had done a pretty good job hyping this match up - the Akamatsus were always a favorite, Makie was well known, and Army had been gaining some steam as of late. Love the setup, hate it, there was no denying that the build up had put a few extra asses in the seats. That match itself would keep them there.

Army was barely even considering that when he came out, though. His mind was focused. Eyes looking straight on to the boxing ring. Fists clenched, strong and tight with the tape. He made his way down the ramp while his robe trailed behind him, raising his fist to the crowd while the announcer went through her bit.

"The following contest is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from the American territory of Puerto Rico, he is the leading male in the Rodriguez boxing legacy. Weighing in at 200 pounds and standing a solid six feet even, he is the Puerto Rican Bomber, Armando 'Army' Rodriguez!"

Army rolled into the ring and went to the corner as the crowd's cheers grew, taking off the robe while he approached. He passed it off to the attendants outside of the ring and started on a quick warmup, throwing punches into the turnbuckle pads.

The crowd was cheering at Army's entrance. The male half of the Rodriguez siblings was becoming a fast rising star in AFW, and had already gathered a sizeable fanbase. Minutes passed as he entered the ring and basked in the cheers of the fans...until the ring went dark, and "Lotus" by Dir En Grey suddenly began to play in the background.

"And his opponent," the announcer declared, standing at five foot six and a hundred and twenty pounds, the rising star of the Akamatsu family...from Kyoto, Japan, the Raging Typhoon, Makie Akamatsu!"

The crowd burst into further applause as Makie strode into the ring, clad in her usual white and red two-piece outfit. Raising her hands and smiling, Makie hopped along the side of the ramp and hi-fived many of her cheering fans as she made her way to the ring. As she neared the ring, however, her expression became much more focused, and she burst into a run, sliding into the ropes and hopping to her feet.

She remained silent as she rotated her shoulders a little, never once taking her eyes off of Army.

Army didn't look Makie's way as she came in. Didn't need to. He stayed in the corner and grabbed the ropes doing a few quick stretches until he heard her footsteps bouncing around the canvas. "She's gonna be staring at me, she's gonna be staring at me, and..."

He turned to see that yes, in fact, Makie was staring at him. "Yup."And not with the usual 'I want to beat you' stare, either. This was a distinct 'I want to stomp you under the ring, you cocky ass motherfucker' stare. For a girl who didn't even look big enough to be on certain carnival rides, she carried herself like she was biggest thing on the roster. Had to give her credit for that much.

Army let his smirk slip it, then held up his one finger. One. He pointed at his fist, right as the bell rang, and hoped she got the message.

His other fist came up in the next moment, and he moved into a classic boxing stance . Circling around the ring. Feet tapping along the floor as he started to close in. He could do much more than just punch, and he certainly would have to before they were done, here - but for now, he wanted to see how she measured up. She didn't seem to be all that worried about his punches, before. Maybe he could change that.

If Army was apprehensive at all about tonight's match, he didn't show it. He seemed cocky as ever, even giving Makie a silent demonstration of what it was exactly that he planned to do tonight. Makie met his gaze without flinching, and waited for him to finish before responding in kind. Smiling, she pointed to him, before pointing to him, then pointing her finger sideways, before holding her other forefinger and thumb close together to indicate that something was extremely small.

And then the bell rang. Makie's heart pounded in her chest as she hopped lightly on her feet, circling Army. He was a big guy, and truth to be told, she was wary of how fast and how hard he could punch. As he came towards her, fists lowered in a classic boxing pose, she tense, initially wanting to play defensively...before she suddenly sprang forward, launching a snap-kick at his face to test his defenses.

Was she saying he had a small dick? Army was pretty sure that Makie was saying he had a small dick.

He snorted as the crowd began to clap, egging them both on. "Like you'd know..." Army moved in and started to reel back for a right cross, when a red flash flew into his view. Makie's kick cracked him in the jaw  - not enough to floor him, especially when he was fresh. But it staggered him. It hurt. It ticked him off.

He took a few steps back, took a hot second to rub his jaw and glare her way, then brought his guard up and moved back her way. He took a big step, trying to close the distance as fast as a guy his size could hope to. He threw a right hook towards her jaw, trying to hit the same spot she'd struck to even the score.

Makie allowed herself a small grin as her booted foot slammed hard against Army's chin. As she rotated back to her feet, Army took a few steps back, the expression on his face having changed. She could tell, he now knew she was taking this match seriously, and now he was going to do the same. 

And then he went on the attack, rushing forward with a speed that Makie almost couldn't react to. Almost-- seeing the punch coming in, Makie reacted instinctively, bringing an arm up to deflect the punch before spinning inside Army's guard, aiming to nail him with two quick strikes to the chin and chest before spinning away, hoping to nail him with a kick to his side as she retreated out of range.

" ¡Mierda!"

Army cursed the second his right hook whiffed off Makie's guard, because he knew what it meant - he was wide open, just for a split second, but long enough for a speedster like her to make him regret throwing that punch in the first place.

Sure enough, the punishment came swift and hard, cracking him with two stinging punches in the jaw and the chest. Not enough to move him, but they left him dazed, so dazed that, when he tried to throw a punch of his own, it was too slow and sloppy to hit. Makie had already moved, and was giving him a kick in the side as a parting gift.

He took a step back, wincing at the pain in his side, but he kept his guard tight. No, she'd have to give a lot more than. A lot more.

"Come on, Army!"

"Get it together!"

"Makie! Makie! Makie!"

The audience's noise egged him on as he moved in again, bouncing on his heels to stay loose. She was faster than him, but that didn't mean he couldn't try to keep up. Army moved in one more time, gliding along the floor as he closed in, and threw out a quick jab - a nice cover for the real damage, coming from his right cross.

Taking a few steps back after nailing Army with a parting gift, Makie's eyes met her opponents. She could see frustration and pain beginning to simmer in there, no doubt from having his punch so effortlessly countered. But now there was a wariness in there as well, an understanding of just what Makie was capable of. Staring her opponent down, Makie gave a confident grin, despite herself, in an unspoken challenge to Army. 

With a burst of speed, Army came lunging in again. Makie darted in to meet him, moving to block his jab and counter with a roundhouse kick--

--only for her head to snap to the side as he feinted, nailing her with a right cross. "UUUUUH!" she grunted as the blow spun her around, sending her stumbling away from Army as she fought to keep her footing. Colours danced briefly across her vision as the blow left her in a walking daze...

The audience cheered along with Army as he landed his first real punch of the match, spinning Makie around with the impact. It wasn't enough to take her down, and he had to be impressed - most guys he knew wouldn't take his right cross that well, and most of the guys he knew were close to his own size. She was still standing. Stunned, but standing.

His first instinct was to punch her again, but it wasn't his style to punch someone in the back of the head. Especially not when he could do way, way more interesting things.

Army ducked down, reached around Makie's waist, pulled her in tight and jerked her up and over with a German Suplex, slamming her into the mat and bridging with his legs to get the pin. He only wished Makie could see the smirk on his face as he held her. "One punch."

The referee dropped for the pin count and started slapping. "1...!"

Makie blinked, trying to clear away the cobwebs as she stumbled dizzily. Damn it, she had hoped to avoid Army's terrible fists of fury, but he'd managed to get a clean hit in early in the match. She shook her head furiously, trying to shake off the dizziness. Come on, focus! You can't go lights out so soon in the match...


That was when she felt Army's arms slide around her waist. Hard wired instincts kicked in: she twisted her body, trying to nail Army with a quick elbow strike. If it managed to stop him, then she would gingerly grab his wrist and twist around, aiming to surprise him with a judo toss.

If it didn't, though, then she would be lifted head over heels and slammed down in a brutal German suplex, wrapped up for an early pin...a pin she would almost instantly kick out of.
